Pongal

Ingredients:
Raw Rice               -  1 cup
Green gram dal       -  1/2 cup
Ghee                      -  5 table spoons
Jeera                      -  1 table spoons
Black pepper         -  1 tea spoon
Asafoitida               -  1/2 tea spoon
Cashew nuts           -  1 table spoon
Curry leave             -   a few leaves
Ginger                    -  1 inch
Salt to taste

1. Wash and clean rice and dal.
2. Cook it together till soft.
3. Mash the cooked rice and dal mixture.
4.  Add jeera, pepper,curry leaves, salt and grated ginger.
5.  Heat ghee in a kadai.
6.  Add the cashewnuts and once they turn golden brown add it to the pongal.
7.  Mix it thoroughly and serve with chutney.
8. Pongal ready.  Serve with coconut chutney, fresh coriander chutney and tomato chutney.
