Ingredients:
Thoor dal - 1 cup (nearly 200 gms)
Onions - 1 no
Green chillies - 2 nos
Tomatoes - 2 nos
Garlic - 6 - 8 pearls
Ginger - 1 inch
Ground nuts - 3 table spoons
Coriander powder- 1 tea spoon
Jeera powder - 1 tea spoon
Jaggery - 1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Red chili powder - 1 tea spoon
Cloves - 2 nos
Ghee - 2 table spoons
For Dhokli
Wheat flour - 2 cups
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Ajwain(Omam) - 1 tea spoon
Cooking oil - 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste
1. Take wheat flour, turmeric powder, ajwain, oil and salt in a bowl and knead it into a tight dough.
2. Wash and cook thoor dal and ground nuts till thoor dal is shapeless(pressure cook)\
3. Grind together tomatoes, ginger and garlic.
4. Heat ghee in a kadai and add mustard seeds and cloves.
5. Once mustard crackles and cloves turn brown add finely chopped onions and green chillies.
6. After the onions turns transparent add the ground tomato paste and cook till ghee splits out.
7. Now add the cooked dal, salt, chili powder, jaggery, jeera powder and coriander powder.
8. In the mean time roll the dough into thick chapathis and cut them into 1 inch diamond shapes.
9. Allow the dal to boil and add 2 cups of water.
10.Add the cut chapati pieces and allow to boil for 4 - 5 mins and remove from stove.
11.Keep stirring gently so that the chapatis pieces do not stick together.
12.Serve hot in a bowl topping it with ghee and chopped coriander leaves.
