Rice flakes Upma (Bataka poha)

Ingredients:


Rice flakes          -  150 gms
Potatoes             -  2 nos
Green chillies      -  2 - 3 nos
Cooking oil         -  2 - 3 table spoons
Curry leaves       -  a few leaves
Asafoitida           -  1 pinch
Turmeric powder-  1/2 tea spoon
Mustard seeds    -  1 table spoon
Black gram dal   -  1 table spoon
Bengal gram dal -  1 table spoon
Ground nut        -  1 table spoon
Lemon juice       -  1 table spoon
Salt to taste


1.  Wash and soak the rice flakes for 1/2.
2.  Finely chop potatoes and green chillies.
3.  Squeeze the rice flakes with any water in it.
4.  Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds, black gram dal, bengal gram dal and groundnuts.
5.  Once the mustard crackles and the dals turn light brown add the chopped potatoes and green chillies.
6.  Also add the curry leaves, turmeric powder, salt and asafoitida.
7.  After the potaoes are half cooked add the rice flakes and stir till they mix up well.
8.  Cover the kadai and cook for 5 - 8  mins stirring in between occasionally. 
9.  Rice flakes upma ready.
